All equipment well maintained and fully operational. A turn-key operation for the right rebuilder or college/university situation!
Remember the story of the guy who went to the ringmaster of the circus with an idea for a new act? He said he would dive from a platform, 150' in the air into an 8 ounce glass of water. The ringmaster was amazed. He said, "awesome" let's do it." The guy said "Ok...but I can only do it once."
So here's the deal: after four and a half decades of piano rebuilding, we are closing our doors. These doors are to the most comprehensive piano remanufacturing shop in the industry. It has effected some of the finest rebuildings on the planet. And now...we're done.
So, if you have ever thought of having your own rebuilding shop, or are a college or university technician who has been trying to convince the school that rebuilding that inventory of Steinways in-house would be most cost-effective, then here is your chance for a literal turn-key operation.
Take a look at the following photos of our equipment. Our hope is that it will all go to one person or organization. We will make you a deal you will find hard to pass up!
After looking throught the lot, you can go to our gallery of photos on this site to see some of them in action. If you have questions, feel free to email Ralph directly at: ralph_onesti@msn.com. Questions are free!
Buying equipment by the piece will be more expensive...so think about taking, and having it all!
You won't find any toys here but you will find some one-of-a-kind custom machines that helped us build wonderful pianos!
You can make an appointment to come visit the shop and see the equipment first hand. Come see if it's not what we say it is!
Have fun!

1695.00 with base.
Alternate view of the Delta shaper. Notice the easy-access adjustments. Spindle will rotate in either CW or CCW direction. Spindle will handle 1/2" cutters and there is an adapter for 1/4" router blades as well.
Microfine adjustment of the fence of the above shaper. You can adjust this fence to thousands-of-an-inch in seconds.

This table saw was retrofit with an extruded aluminum fence for high accuracy work. This saw made a lot of pianos. Blades included with blade stiffeners for higher accuracy.
This little handy item lived just aft of the band saw waiting to accept pin blocks, ribs, and anything long that would ordinarily need a second pair of hands. Remember, I work in this shop...alone!

Here's an item you just won't find anywhere. It is a converted 20" Bridgewood industrial drill press with a tilting table, its own dust collection arm, and cold gun. If you do pin blocks, you'll wonder how you did it all this years without this.
1895.00
Here is a shot of the above with the table tilted. Could it be any easier?
This is a view of the custom collection arm and cold gun assembly with filter. If you don't use the air filter, instead of cold air...you'll make snow!
A general utility, industrial drill press. Speeds are easily adjusted in seconds. Comes with collection unit.

Front view of above. This press is kept in immaculate condition and like all of the tools on this page is up, running, and ready to make pianos.
Notice how the custom collection unit hugs the bit to get the maximum amount of chips.
A general duty, slow running band saw fit for metal work. We used this for Piano Disc installation and general metal work.
150.00
A second, lighter weight vertical band saw used for metal work.

This Baldor sharpening set up is exclusively for shaping the points of our bridge notching chisels. Our chisels are slightly sharper than a surgeon's scalpel!!!!!
No guess work here, and the results are completely repeatable. We made pianos here...no time to play with chisels. This cut the sharpening time down to a minimum!
The above comes just as you see it with custom bench with shelving.
The complete system, set up and ready to hone.795.00
Ah...talk about time saving. You are looking at the cleaning part of our shop.
This is an industrial Cyclone sand blasting cabinet. We use an extremely fine grit silicone for cleaning and polishing everything from trap work, to action parts to keys...what a great job it does on key sticks...in minutes!!!
New gloves were recently installed
895.00
A general purpose band saw that was retrofited with a height extender for resawing and upper and lower Carter blade guides. Roughing out pin blocks is a breeze with this saw. It was also upgraded to a 1 1/2 HP motor...no stalling through tough wood like hickory. Check out the mobile base...great for pulling the unit away from the wall for extra long cuts! Holds a 3/4" blade.
895.00
In our shop we tried to have certain equipment up and running ready for special tasks. Take this general purpose drill press for instance. It was fitted with a milling table and hammer drilling jig. You drill your own hammers in minutes!
Setup and ready to bore...perfectly!796.00
A closer look at the Renner jig and milling table. No guess work here!
Back to the cleaning area. Baldor Polisher. You don't get more professional results on polishing than here. The wheel on the right is a 'cutting' wheel for cleaning, and the wheel on the left is high polish...very high polish!
695.00
A custom built, very slow running polishing set up for key tops. We run it slowly so there is no burning of the plastic.
230.00
Key polishing set up...
We named these...affectionately...R2 and D2. These are two tumblers. We put the parts we polish by hand in here for final luster. Efficiencly at its best!
495.00 for the pair!!!!!
Sometimes metal parts look unsalvageable. However, this caustic solution washing tank takes off everything from impossible dirt to rust to prepare the item for the next polishing stages.
Comes with stainless steel washing bins. This system also provides a heating element to facilitate dirt removal.

Ah...the old kiln. This holds several boards at one time, and has a rack for raw rib material as well as shaped ribs waiting to go on the board.
We were very strict about the relationship of temperature with respect to equilibrium moister content...this really helped!
Goes with the soundboard press!!!!
State of the art...I venture to say the strongest, most versitile sound board press in the industry of piano remanufacturing. The bed measures 5'X6". That will fit a board for a seven foot piano easily. Nine footers were ribbed in two shots. The bed is 12/4 mahogony and you will noticed it is dished to accept shaped ribs.
The bed is bolted to the base and is removeable in four easy sections in case you like to do veneer work on a flat surface.
Notice how the base is center loaded and the headpiece is double encased. This press does NOT give under the pressure of 100, two hundred pound bow bars...now that is a well made press!
Notice the four sections of base.
The loading of the transverse is two inch pressure treated southern yellow pine, held in place by spacers and the entire assembly is bolted from one end to the other by a 1" X 6 foot piece of allthread in two places.
Easy to remove bed of 12/4 mahogony...DISHED not curved!
This system provides the most even pressure for rib and bridge gluing when and where YOU want it.
Since we load 100 bars on at once we effectively get to 20,000 pounds of pressure. You are looking at 60,000 pound welds and thirty + years of service with NO failure.
The head piece is stiff, and the liner is renewable.
An example of the ease of use. By the way...comes with bars and dried hickory to make new ones as you need them.
These bars were measured at two hundred pounds. We put 100 on in less than fourteen minutes!
Perfect, even rib and bridge gluing.
2500.00
How many clamps does one need to make a piano? We use just about all of these to glue in a soundboard.
750.00...these are not the 'toy' clamps you see in woodworking magazines. These clamps made installed the finest soundboards in the world...and then some.
The toy box...An industrial Kennedy box loaded with goodies from pristine bridge chisels to micrometers! With this box...you can rebuild a piano from casters to lid...ask me how I know!
1225.00
We have every tool necessary to do every job necessary in the remanufacturing of pianos, electric and air.
I'll miss the tools...notice...NO toys here!
A collection of jigs we have made thoughout the years to make the job easier...they come with full instructions!
A full view of the tools we keep near the utility drill press.
Parts is parts and we have a stockroom full of what it takes to get through a rebuilding...including the shelving!
The stock room...you need it...we got it!
We try to keep things as neat as possible...then...we can find it when we need it.
We made this in 1980 when we moved to our new and present location. A visiting technician told be it wouldn't work...but here it is. It will hold 6 full sized actions and is totally movable. It has an "A" shape for stability.
A pile of 8/4 hickory for making bow bars...comes wtih the sound board press.
A comprehensive shot of the action department.
This is where the parts become the action. Benches and shelving go too.
The only thing we didn't do at Onesti Piano was refinishing. But...we did have to coat the boards and refinish the plates. We reserved a small portion of the shop for these tasks.
The box is a filter assembly, doored to keep out the weather.
This top loaded filter system sucks from the floor up.

And this is what stopped us from sweeping every five minutes. Totally custom, over 1200 FPF air flow connected to every piece of equipment. We used six full size bags for efficiency.
The cyclone, large part remover
Empties into a drum...easily changeable.
We only had an eight foot ceiling so we had a shortened drum. If you have a heigher ceiling, you can have any size drum you like.
Totally designed by us, totally made by Oneida.
The heart of the system. An industrial paddle wheel blower. We had no trouble running two pieces of equipment at a time with total scrap removal.
Comes with all duct work wyes, tees, and fittings.
No bending over for me. Open a blast gate and sweep the dirt right in. Just be careful of small children!
Again...all custom.
When I said all equipment is connected, I meant all of it! There is a fitting for every machine.
This is how the system is tuned. Not using the planer, close the gate.
Gate open!
